Bi-Centenary 2022
Treasuring the Bicentenary Year Life

Twin celebrations were recorded on 29th July 2022 as the Congregation of Jesus Mary Joseph / Guntur province celebrated the final commitment of our seven sisters and also declares the grand finale for the bicentenary year. It was a long exciting day for our seven brides who willingly and happily came forward to surrender to the Lord their entire life in the service of the church through the Congregation of Jesus Mary Joseph.

The sparkling and glittering day began as all of us entered into the portals of JMJ Convent, Tenali. Sr. Innamma Yeruva our Superior General, Rt. Rev. Bhagaiah, Bishop of Guntur, Sr. Chandra General councillor, Sr. Tresa Provincial superior, Council and seven of our new brides and their parents were led in procession to the JMJ College Auditorium by NCC band of the college.

To earmark the occasion of the Bi-Centenary celebrations, air balloons were hoisted in front of the open air stage and released. Later pigeons were released by Sr. Innamma Yeruva our Superior General, Rt. Rev. Bhagaiah, Bishop of Guntur, Sr. Chandra General councillor, Sr. Tresa Provincial superior and Sr. Tresa Gade superior of the community. This gesture is signified announcing to the world fertility, prosperity, fortune, luck, and transformation that was experienced for the past 200 years in the congregation of JMJ at large and especially in the province of Guntur and trusting the blessings of the Almighty in the days to come.

As the choir sang the entrance hymn the gathering were invited to the hall as the brides led the procession very solemnly the final commitment procedure took place and everyone prayed for the sisters.

After the Holy Communion Sr. Tresa Provincial superior enumerated the importance of seed which is a rich symbol in the process of living and dying and which is a complete circle of life. A seed by itself is a mystery. It is at the same time the beginning and the end of everything. One seed has to be destroyed in order for the plant to grow, so in a meaningful and deeper way, it has to end its life for something else, more beautiful and visible to grow. It is a single grain, yet it is the source of a thousand grains. It can be stored for many years, and then be stirred into life in days.

As the bicentenary year is coming to closure, she requested Sr. Innamma Yeruva, Superior General, to sow the seed symbolizing that each seed at one end is holding the mystery and legacy of 200 years, and at the other end this is a nourishing source and generates sprouts into new life and blooms into a fruitful future.

It is the responsibility of the present generation to integrate the patrimony, legacy, spirituality and charism to handover to the coming generations spreading the rays of hope. Symbolizing this, she invited Sr. Innamma, our Superior general to hand over the 5 trays with sown seeds to 5 sisters who are at different stages in the Congregation. Mercy one of the aspirant, Prathima one of the Novice, Sr. Smitha one of the Temporary professed sisters, Sr. Amirdha Sahaya Mary Perpetually professed sister and Miss. Kalyani potential candidates in the future to the Congregation. Later Sr. Innamma, our Superior General congratulated all the sisters for the strenuous and conscious efforts made during the preparation of renewal and surrendered the Congregation into the hands of God as we stepped in tri-century.
